Our dedication makes the difference...

The nest is getting emptier, and so is your bank account, as your child heads off to the next big adventure in their lives: college. As part of this journey they will be taking much of their personal furnishings, including televisions, stereos, computers, books and supplies to their new temporary home.

We often get questions about coverage for a child’s possessions. While we would prefer to know the specifics of your child’s living situation, in general your child, if a resident relative of your home and a full time student, is considered an “insured” under most homeowner policies. Therefore, a parent’s homeowner policy could extend coverage for property and liability to your child while temporarily residing at college. There are exceptions and qualifications to this explanation that may result in the need for special coverage. Call us with any questions.
